Guests move between the Alhambra, the Generalife, the Royal Chapel and the San Nicolás viewpoint, and in the evening settle into tapas bars, where a free bite comes with every drink. The price of a room is set by the season: winter is cheapest, autumn the priciest, when the weather is ideal for sightseeing. This list has 2 063 properties, from a hostel bed to a hotel with a view of the Alhambra. Below is what really drives the price of a stay in Granada: the month, the day of the week and the district.
Granada is cheapest in the middle of winter. January is usually the bottom of the market, about 38 percent below the yearly average. October is the priciest, when summer fades, the heat above 35 degrees eases and the city fills with guests in ideal sightseeing weather, and rates rise by around half. The arrival day matters too: Tuesday is the cheapest, Friday the most expensive, as tourists arrive for the weekend. For a regular trip, book about 62 days ahead, and for an Alhambra ticket even earlier, as entries can sell out well in advance.
Granada has a wide spread of prices, so a hostel bed and a romantic room in a carmen with an Alhambra view are quite far apart. The cheapest sleep is in hostels and two-star places; you pay the most for five stars near the Alhambra. Below are indicative nightly rates.
| Property type | Indicative price per night (from) |
|---|---|
| Hostel bed or two-star place | from approx. EUR 35 |
| Three-star hotel | from approx. EUR 60 |
| Family room | from approx. EUR 130 |
| Four-star hotel | from approx. EUR 95 |
| Romantic or boutique room | from approx. EUR 195 |
| Five-star hotel | from approx. EUR 210 |
Indicative rates for a double room, outside the October peak. In Granada the gap between a quiet January and autumn can be wide, so check the real price for your dates in the search above.
The most popular area among guests is Plaza de Toros with Doctores and San Lázaro, close to the centre and well connected, where prices stay moderate. The tourist heart is the centre around the cathedral and the Royal Chapel, usually the priciest. The most atmospheric is the Moorish Albayzín with its narrow lanes and views of the Alhambra, while the cheapest sleep is in the old Jewish quarter of Realejo, where a room runs about 10 percent below the city average. The centre is compact and largely pedestrian, and buses run up to the Alhambra and the hills, so a base further out is still convenient.
From a hostel bed to a boutique hotel in the centre, a few Granada names with a from price. Just a starting point, as rates can climb noticeably in October and on weekends.
| Property | Category | Price per night (from) |
|---|---|---|
| AMC Granada Hostal | Hostel | from approx. EUR 47 |
| Hotel Inglaterra | Family hotel | from approx. EUR 52 |
| Occidental Granada | Budget hotel | from approx. EUR 57 |
| Hotel Boutique Párraga Siete | Boutique hotel | from approx. EUR 62 |
| Gar Anat Hotel Boutique - Domus Artis | Boutique hotel | from approx. EUR 75 |
| Shine Albayzín | Hotel in the Albayzín | from approx. EUR 90 |
| Meliá Granada | Upscale hotel | from approx. EUR 112 |
| NH Collection Victoria | Upscale hotel | from approx. EUR 130 |
| Corral del Carbón GG Luxury Hotel Boutique | Premium hotel | from approx. EUR 134 |
From prices for a double room. In Granada the same hotel can differ a lot between a Tuesday and a Friday, so check your exact dates in the search.
Prices rise in the season of events and in autumn. They climb the most in October, when the weather favours sightseeing. In summer, despite the heat, the city draws the Festival Internacional de Música y Danza with concerts and flamenco; June brings the week-long Feria del Corpus Christi, and spring the Semana Santa processions. In winter the Sierra Nevada ski slopes are a short drive away. On those dates rooms in the centre go fastest, so it is worth booking early.
January is cheapest, when prices drop about 38 percent below the yearly average. October is the priciest, when the heat eases and the weather is ideal for sightseeing, and rates rise by around half.
Usually Tuesday. Friday tends to be the most expensive, as tourists arrive for the weekend. If you can choose your dates, starting midweek often works out cheaper than arriving for the weekend.
Realejo, the old Jewish quarter, usually has the lowest prices, about 10 percent below the city average. The Plaza de Toros area is the most popular, and the central streets around the cathedral are the priciest. The Moorish Albayzín is the most atmospheric, with views of the Alhambra.
The centre by the cathedral is the easiest choice. It is the area with the Royal Chapel within a walk, and you can reach the Alhambra on foot or by bus.
About 62 days ahead is best. Book Alhambra tickets even earlier, as entries can sell out well in advance, especially in autumn and on weekends.
Hotels by Granada airport start at roughly EUR 60 per night. A convenient base for an early flight or a layover, when you start or end the trip by plane.
